A young girl in our Student Ministries sent me this article of Darren McCarty a player for the Detroit Red Wings. It is cool to see what God has done with the W.W.J.D. bracelets.

"Doing what's right"
-- Cynthia Lambert / The Detroit News, Sunday, Nov.
2, 1997
Darren McCarty has more than his conscience keeping him in line these days.
On his left wrist is a bracelet that has the letters W.W.J.D. inscribed on it. It was a gift to McCarty from a child after he spoke at his cousin's youth group in September.
"He's a minister down river," McCarty said of his cousin, Shawn Roberts. "One little kid gave this to me after I talked. I put it on right then and I haven't taken it off since. It means, What Would Jesus Do?
"There are times when I might be ready to do something, then I look down at he bracelet and I think, 'What would Jesus do?'".
McCarty has been a positive role model. In addition to making a conscious effort to do the right thing, he has given up drinking alcohol. McCarty was asked recently how he thought it would feel to have a young hockey player say that he wanted to be just like him. When McCarty was drafted in 1992, he said he wanted to be like Rick Tocchet.
"That would blow my mind if anyone said that," McCarty said. "If they did, I would hope it'd be the new McCarty, not the old one."

With that great story I also want to share a thought and a concern about the W.W.J.D. bracelet. WHAT!? A CONCERN - HOW CAN THAT BE?
Last week on the news they had a report on the W.W.J.D. bracelet. They talked about how this W.W.J.D. bracelet craze is sweeping the nation in every High School across America.
So, what's the concern? Isn't that great? Isn't that a praise the Lord? I would answer you yes! I wear mine with pride and it has helped me out many times as I have made decisions on things. But, the concern is this, can the W.W.J.D. bracelet become something that people just get used to? Can the W.W.J.D become just a fad? Could the W.W.J.D have become something just because everyone else is wearing it? Could there be a possibility that people wearing the W.W.J.D. don't realize what that question could do in their life?
Don't get me wrong I believe the W.W.J.D. is having great impact. Just a few thoughts to think about.
Write back with your thoughts.
